Injury Awareness Week 2023

Injury Awareness Week is held every year, with the goal of increasing public awareness of accidents that could have been prevented and the safety precautions that people in the UK can take to do so.

More than four million people visit A&E as a consequence of an accident each year. While most accidents are just a minor inconvenience, thousands of people have serious accidents that have a devastating impact on their lives, while thousands more lose their jobs, need immediate or long-term medical attention, or must drastically alter their way of life.

By exercising more caution as we go about our daily lives, we may easily prevent many accidents, and we want to make Brits aware of this.

GJP Health is supporting Injury Awareness Week

Do you have an injury that is preventing you from working?  By contacting GJP Health, our professional physiotherapists may be able to help with your rehabilitation so you can return to work sooner.

Whether you have had a fall at home, sports injury, workplace injury etc, we can evaluate your condition and provide the necessary help to get you back to full fitness.

Here are some of the key responsibilities of a physiotherapist:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation: Physiotherapists begin by assessing a patient’s physical condition, including their range of motion, strength, flexibility, posture, and overall movement patterns. They also review the patient’s medical history and any diagnostic reports to better understand their condition.
  2. Treatment Planning: Based on the assessment, physiotherapists develop personalized treatment plans to address the patient’s specific needs and goals. These plans typically involve a combination of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and other interventions.
  3. Therapeutic Exercises: Physiotherapists prescribe exercises tailored to each patient’s condition and goals. These exercises aim to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, and balance. They may also include specialized exercises for specific conditions, such as respiratory exercises for lung conditions or pelvic floor exercises for urinary incontinence.
  4. Manual Therapy: Physiotherapists use hands-on techniques to mobilize and manipulate joints, soft tissues, and muscles. Manual therapy can help reduce pain, improve range of motion, and enhance tissue healing. Techniques may include joint mobilizations, massage, stretching, and manipulation.
  5. Modalities and Physical Agents: Physiotherapists may utilize various physical agents and modalities to complement their treatment. These can include heat or cold therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, and therapeutic taping. These modalities can help manage pain, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue healing.
  6. Education and Advice: Physiotherapists educate patients about their conditions, teach them self-management techniques, and provide advice on posture, ergonomics, and lifestyle modifications to prevent future injuries or manage chronic conditions. They may also offer guidance on the use of assistive devices or adaptive equipment.
  7. Rehabilitation: Physiotherapists play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process for individuals recovering from surgery, injuries, or neurological conditions. They design comprehensive rehabilitation programs to restore function, improve mobility, and help patients regain independence.
  8. Prevention and Health Promotion: Physiotherapists promote overall health and prevent injuries by providing education on exercise, physical fitness, and injury prevention strategies. They may work with athletes, workplace settings, or community organizations to develop customized programs.
